Social Initiatives

TPWODL believes in empowering people and the communities the Company serves in the state, to build a better future through various social initiatives and activities.

Social initiatives undertaken by TPWODL involve medical initiatives ranging from providing free healthcare facilities to making essential medicines available to the community, ensuring financial inclusion and access to government schemes and other entitlements to the needy as well as providing support to the public healthcare system during the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic. It also includes educational initiatives, like providing support to the educational infrastructure and cleanliness initiatives through employee volunteering programmes.

Mobile Health Dispensary

Beneficiaries: Elderly, women and children

The Mobile Health Dispensary which is a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of TPWODL was launched on 5th January 2022 at Bhawanipatna, Kalahandi district.

The Mobile Health Dispensary aims to provide healthcare facilities to remote locations of Kalahandi District. Mobile Health Dispensary is staffed by 1 MBBS Doctor, 1 Pharmacist, 1 Female Attendant & 1 Driver and operates for six days a week excluding government/national holidays .The Mobile Health Dispensary has covered 32 villages repeatedly till March 31st 2022. Apart from treatment, free medicines are being provided to the beneficiaries during its operations. Major beneficiaries under this social initiative by TPWODL are elderly, women and children. The initiative has been well received by the community as they tend to avail the free healthcare facility in good numbers.

Covid-19 Response

Selected Hospitals across Odisha

Tata Power Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL) in its efforts to support the public healthcare system during the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic by providing the District Headquarter Hospitals of Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh , Sundargarh , Subarnapur, and Kalahandi with 2 Oxygen Concentrators of 5 LPM each. The distribution took place in two phases .The first phase happened at Revenue Divisional Commissioner Office, Sambalpur on 6th July 2021 where CDMO and other representatives of the government medical departments of the districts Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh , Sundargarh and Subarnapur were invited for the receipt of the Oxygen Concentrators. Additionally 1000 N-95 masks were also donated to the District hospital, Sambalpur. The event was concluded by an address to the media from the Mr. Gajanan Kale, C.E.O. TPWODL marking the commencement of Corporate Social Responsibility at TPWODL. The second phase of distribution took place at District Hospital Kalahandi in presence of CDMO Kalahandi and Sumit Ghosh, Chief of Operations TPWODL. This social initiative by TPWODL was supported by Tata Sons Private Limited and is part of Tata Power's larger efforts to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Adhikaar

Beneficiaries: Low-income group

Amongst the social initiatives undertaken by TPWODL, Adhikaar is a flagship initiative of Tata Power aimed at ensuring financial inclusion and access to government schemes and other entitlements. The intervention is carried out in partnership with Haqdarshak which is the implementing partner. The program has been working in the districts of Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Sambalpur and Bargarh. The intervention is focused giving benefits of more than 15 state and central government schemes to the needy with a target population of 2000 for FY 22 along with training of rural entrepreneurs known as "Adhikaar Mittras' who would be ensuring last mile delivery of the intervention.

Cleanliness Drive on Gandhi Jayanti

On the occasion of this Gandhi Jayanti (2nd October 2021), the CSR team of TPWODL organized a "Cleanliness Drive at a picnic spot close to Zero Point near Hirakud, Burla" with the objective of promotion of cleanliness along with preservation and beautification of tourist spots in its vicinity.

A total of 38 employees from different departments of TPWODL participated in this cleanliness drive with full dedication and enthusiasm. Approximately 175 kgs. of waste was collected and safely disposed.

Blood Donation Drive at Bhawanipatna

A Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was also organized at DHH Bhawanipatna on 14th Jan 2022, where collectively 52 unit of blood was donated by TPWODL employees.
